  1. I have been looking for exactly this type of research, especially comparing changes from prayer and meditation in beginners as well as experienced meditators/prayers. My experience with beginners in my Spiritual Direction practice makes me think that prayer is an inherent ability within all humans that just needs to be unlocked.

  2. For about three months a group of friends and I have been meeting for centering prayer on Thursday mornings. We begin with a brief,"check-in" (how are you today)...a reading from a variety of spiritual sources, and then thirty minutes of silence and centering prayer. We close with just a word or two about the experience from each participant. This is now my favorite part of the week and I look forward to it all week. I am calmer and I move into a prayer space internally more quickly now. Various people come and go in this group during each week. Some are conservative, some are liberal. It doesn't matter. We feel only unity and love.
